LANDSCAPE & ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING SOLUTION

Tree lighting designed around growth, weather and maintainability

Tree Lighting creates stunning landscape effects by wrapping trees with flexible LED neon strips that deliver seamless, dot-free illumination. Designed for outdoor durability, it enhances parks, commercial plazas, resorts, gardens, and public spaces while providing energy-efficient and reliable architectural lighting.

THE PROJECT CHALLENGE

A solution starts with site conditions—not a product code

Traditional tree lighting solutions often suffer from uneven illumination, visible LED hotspots, and complex installation that can affect the natural appearance of trees. In outdoor environments, conventional lighting products are exposed to rain, UV radiation, temperature fluctuations, and physical impact, leading to water ingress, color fading, and premature failure. Rigid fixtures also provide limited flexibility for trees of different sizes and shapes, making it difficult to achieve consistent, attractive lighting effects. As a result, landscape designers, architects, and contractors are often forced to compromise between visual impact, installation efficiency, durability, and long-term performance in tree lighting projects.

DESIGN PRIORITIES

Decisions that determine performance in the finished installation

Turn the desired appearance into a buildable, maintainable lighting specification.

Define the visual effect first

Use warm white for natural form and hospitality ambience, RGB for scene changes, or addressable RGBIC when the project requires moving effects and individually controlled sections. Viewing distance determines whether pixel resolution or overall brightness matters more.

Design for a living structure

Trees move and grow. Use adjustable, weather-resistant mounting methods that do not cut into bark, allow service loops, and respect the minimum bending radius of the selected product.

Treat the installation as a complete outdoor system

Specify the strip, connectors, cable, power supplies, controllers, enclosures and drainage together. A high IP rating on the strip alone does not protect an unsealed connection or unsuitable power enclosure.

SELECTION GUIDE

Match the lighting format to the project requirement

Product choice should follow the viewing direction, visual effect, environment, control system and installation detail.

360° addressable neon for feature trees

Use a 360-degree emitting RGBIC neon product where the strip is visible from several directions and programmed effects are part of the design.

Flexible silicone neon for continuous outlines

Choose an IP67 silicone neon construction for dot-free trunk or branch outlines, subject to bend direction, diameter and connection-detail review.

Waterproof linear strip for concealed details

Use a protected conventional strip only when it is installed in a suitable profile or concealed detail and the light does not need to be visible from every direction.

Final selection: confirm ambient conditions, viewing distance, run length, voltage drop, control zones, bend radius, mounting method and service access before sampling.

SYSTEM & INSTALLATION

Specify more than the LED strip

A dependable result includes power, controls, cables, connections, mounting, environmental protection and service access.

Power and control

Calculate load by circuit, keep power supplies within their rated capacity, and plan power injection for long runs. Confirm controller protocol, channel or pixel count, signal distance and enclosure rating before production.

Outdoor connections

Use compatible sealed connectors or approved field-sealing methods. Position connections away from standing water and provide drip loops and drainage where appropriate.

Mounting and maintenance

Do not staple or tightly bind lighting to bark. Allow movement and future growth, protect cables from abrasion, and design accessible connection points so damaged sections can be serviced without removing the complete installation.

Site validation

Approve a sample on the actual tree or a representative mock-up. Check daytime appearance, night-time brightness, programmed effects, glare, heat, cable visibility and maintenance access.

BUYER FAQ

Questions to resolve before sampling

Practical answers for designers, contractors and purchasing teams preparing a project specification.

Which LED product is best for wrapping a tree?
The right product depends on viewing direction, required effect, bend radius, outdoor exposure and maintenance access. A 360-degree flexible neon is useful when the light is visible from several sides; conventional waterproof strips are better suited to concealed or directional details. ZBL Lighting confirms the construction after reviewing the project.
Does an IP67 or IP68 strip make the complete installation waterproof?
No. The strip rating does not automatically cover cut ends, connectors, extension cables, controllers or power supplies. Every connection and enclosure must be specified for its location and exposure, with suitable drainage and sealing.
How do you avoid damaging a living tree?
Avoid nails, staples and tight ties that can cut into bark. Use adjustable weather-resistant supports, allow slack for growth and wind movement, follow the product bending limit, and include periodic inspection in the maintenance plan.
What information is needed for a tree-lighting quotation?
Send site photos or drawings, tree dimensions and quantity, desired color or dynamic effect, exposure conditions, available power, control requirements, estimated lighting length, destination market and project schedule. We can then recommend a sample configuration and confirm MOQ, documentation and lead time.
