What is the meaning of the brightness unit K in LED strip lights?

The “K” on an LED strip means Kelvin, the unit used to describe white-light color temperature—not brightness. Lower values look warmer and more amber; higher values look cooler and more blue-white.

Common color temperatures

• 2200K–2700K: warm, intimate light for hospitality, bedrooms and decorative details.
• 3000K: warm white commonly used in homes, hotels and restaurants.
• 3500K–4000K: neutral white for offices, retail and practical task lighting.
• 5000K–6500K: cool daylight appearance for selected technical, display or industrial uses.

Kelvin is not brightness

How to choose the right CCT

Consider interior finishes, daylight, time of use and the mood required. Warm timber and hospitality spaces often suit 2700K–3000K. Neutral workplaces frequently use 3500K–4000K. Samples should be viewed in the actual room because wall color and diffuser material change perception.

Check consistency and color quality
