An RGBW LED strip combines red, green and blue color channels with a dedicated white channel. The extra white channel produces cleaner white light than mixing RGB at full output and lets one installation provide both decorative color and practical illumination.

A standard RGB strip creates colors by changing the output of red, green and blue LEDs. It can approximate white, but the result may look tinted and usually has modest color rendering. RGBW adds a separate white LED channel, available in warm, neutral or cool white depending on the product.

Choose RGB when saturated effects are the main goal. Choose RGBW when the same strip must also provide usable white light in coves, bars, hotels, retail displays or residential joinery.
Some RGBW strips use a four-in-one package containing all channels. Others alternate RGB and white packages along the PCB. A four-in-one design can improve color mixing at short viewing distances; an alternating design may offer different output or thermal characteristics. Judge the installed appearance behind the intended diffuser.
Analog RGBW strips normally use five conductors: one common positive connection and four controlled channels. They require an RGBW controller, not a basic RGB controller. Match the controller's voltage and per-channel current capacity to the strip.
Calculate total load from watts per metre multiplied by installed length, then add the driver's recommended headroom. Long runs may need power injection to control voltage drop. Our LED strip power-supply guide explains the sizing process.
For product options, compare our RGB and RGBW strip range. Projects needing custom PCB width, power, CCT or connector layouts can use our custom LED strip service.
Usually not correctly. RGBW needs a fourth output channel and compatible control logic.
It can be, but verify the dedicated white channel's lumens per metre, CRI and thermal requirements rather than relying on total package wattage.
A single-white RGBW strip cannot vary between warm and cool white. That requires an RGB+CCT or RGBCCT product with two white channels.
