How to Prepare a Professional LED Strip RFQ

“Please quote your best 24V LED strip” is not enough information for a reliable quotation. Suppliers will fill the gaps with different assumptions, and the resulting prices will not describe comparable products.

1. Start with the application

Describe where the strip will be installed, what it must illuminate and how many hours per day it will operate. “Hotel cove,” “mine walkway” and “retail shelf” immediately reveal different priorities.

2. Define optical requirements

• CCT or colour range
• CRI and any important R values
• Lumens per metre or target illuminance
• LED density and dot-free requirement
• SDCM or batch colour tolerance
• Beam/diffusion requirement
• Dimming range and flicker requirement

Do not specify LED count as a substitute for output. Different packages and currents can produce very different performance.

3. Define the electrical system

• Rated voltage and acceptable alternative
• Watts per metre and tolerance
• Maximum continuous powered length
• Feed direction and cable length
• Driver and dimming/control protocol
• Connector type, polarity and pinout
• Surge, protection and backup requirements

List the destination market and required product-specific certificates. Request datasheet, test reports, declaration documents, installation instructions, drawings and label artwork as applicable. For hazardous locations, provide the classification first and use our hazardous-area checklist.

• Sample and production quantities
• Incoterm and destination
• Required delivery schedule
• Warranty and claim process
• Spare percentage
• Private label, reel and carton requirements

7. Use a controlled sample approval

The approved sample should have an identification code and recorded measurements. Approve appearance, colour, electrical load, dimensions, connectors and packaging—not only whether it lights. For colour-sensitive projects, retain a sealed master sample for production comparison.
